Diaphram Exercise

I've been told that blowing up ballons is a good exercise to strenghten the diaphram. I was just wondering if any of you knew if this really does help. Thanks!

I don't think that sounds like such a good idea....Sure it may "help strengthen" the diaphragm...but it also adds ALOT of pressure to the vocal cords when you're blowing, which is BADDDDDDDD. But also, in my opinion good singing isn't about having a strong diaphragm, it's about understanding the use of the breath so that your support isn't just in your diaphragm but also in your lower back and filling your ribs. The breath shouldn't be held and locked with the diaphragm because then your cords tense up and singing is not as easy as it should be...
But that's just me!
